Join fellow dancers for a day of learning featuring workshops with local dance artists.

Create a community dance work to perform with your fellow attendees.
Enjoy performances of original work created and performed by attendees.  (We hope you apply to perform your work!)

Choreographic works need to be between two (2) and five (5) minutes in length and should present original choreography from the artist.  All genres of dance are welcome, and works-in-progress can be submitted as long as they are performance-ready by March 7th.

How much does it cost to attend?

This event is FREE!

Why a "Student Dance Summit?"

What better way to have fun and build community with dancers from the region than through learning, creating, performing, and spectating!

Can I just come for the classes?

Yes, definitely -- but we hope you will join us in our community dancemaking event.

How do I sign up?

Register via the home page buttons!

You can register by completing the form on the website.

Registration is open now.

Registration for Choreography Applications/Submissions are due on December 15, 2025.

The deadline to sign up to attend is February 26, 2026.

How can I learn more about this event?

E-mail studentdancesummit@gmail.com with any questions you may have.

When will I know if my work has been accepted?

We will notify Choreographers by January 15, 2026 by e-mail.  Choreographers will be matched with a local artist mentor for two coaching/feedback (in-person or virtual) sessions to take place in the weeks prior to the Summit.

What is the time limit for work?

Choreographic works should be 2-5 minutes in length.

How do I show you my work?

Put a video link into the registration form of your phrases or rough choreography.  The link can be to a Vimeo or YouTube page.  You can also submit files stored on Google, however you must make the files shareable to anyone with the link as your work will be reviewed by our production team.

My dance isn't finished and the deadline is tomorrow!  Should I still apply?

We will accept works-in-progress and videos of undeveloped phrases.  When you fill out the application, be clear about your vision for the finished dance.  If your work is accepted, your mentor will help you with getting to the finish line.

What if I don't have the rights to the music I want to dance to?

We encourage using music in the public domain.

Will I have time to run through my work before the performance?

Dress/tech rehearsals will be scheduled throughout the day so that you can run your piece in the space.  There will be a choreographer Zoom pre-performance to review lighting options and other technical aspects of your performance.

Do my dancers have to attend the summit?

Yes, your dancers should register for the Summit using the general registration button.  We encourage your dancers to join you at the Summit, meet other dancers, and work with our guest artists.

What if one of my dancers is older than 18/younger than 8?

We will review this on a case-by-case basis.

Will lunch be provided?

No lunch will be provided, we ask attendees to bring lunch/snacks.
